The estate
Founded in 1946 in Ampuis by Etienne Guigal, Domaine E. Guigal was taken over by his son Marcel in 1961. Today, the 3rd generation carries on the legacy and values of this family-run House, an emblematic name of the Rhône Valley. Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage: the E. Guigal estate cultivates a mosaic of vineyards spread across numerous appellations, offering a range of wines of impeccable quality. Over the vintages, the House of E. Guigal has grown considerably, notably acquiring the famous Château d'Ampuis in 1995, as well as several wine estates (Jean-Louis Grippat, Domaine de Vallouit, Domaine de Bonserine and Château de Nalys in Châteauneuf-du-Pape).
The vineyard
This Crozes-Hermitage cuvée comes from clay-loam and sandy-gravelly soils. The vines, around 35 years old and mostly located on hillsides, come mainly from the villages of Gervans, Mercurol, Larnage and Crozes-Hermitage.
Vinification and ageing
Traditional harvesting and vinification, with controlled temperatures during alcoholic fermentation. The maceration of this Rhône Valley wine lasts around three weeks.
Blend
Syrah (100%).
