Maison Joseph Perrier celebrates nearly 200 years of an exceptional family adventure, driven by the ambition to craft outstanding cuvées.
A family-run Champagne house since 1825
Driven by a bold vision and exceptional craftsmanship, Joseph Perrier founded a distinctive Champagne house in 1825. For six generations, the House has drawn inspiration from the richness of its vineyards and terroir to produce great wines of Champagne. This family legacy endures through the succession of the Perrier, Pithois and Fourmon families, who have passed on the leadership of the House from father to son or between cousins.
Today, its passionate president Benjamin Fourmon continues this story, instilling a spirit of innovation and sustainability while cultivating humility and discretion. The creativity of each Joseph Perrier cuvée reflects the expression of the terroir, the House’s signature, and its artisanal DNA.
Recognized on Europe’s finest tables, Joseph Perrier Champagne proudly bears the prestigious “Cuvée Royale” distinction, awarded by Queen Victoria and King Edward VII. Deeply rooted in its heritage yet forward-looking, Maison Joseph Perrier shines to elevate every tasting moment.
A passionate team
Today, the passionate and visionary president Benjamin Fourmon continues to write the House’s story by driving continuous development and improvement. Alongside him, cellar master Nathalie Laplaige strives for excellence while preserving the unique sensory memory of each Joseph Perrier cuvée. Finally, vineyard manager Patrick Martin carefully oversees the 23 hectares of vines, practicing sustainable, nature-friendly viticulture.
A prestigious and preserved vineyard
The vineyard spans 23 hectares, divided into 34 rigorously selected plots. Committed to an eco-responsible approach, it is certified Haute Valeur Environnementale level 3 and Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne.
The vines thrive along the Marne, on exceptional terroirs such as the Grande Vallée (Hautvillers and Cumières), the Vallée (Damery and Verneuil) and the Vitryat (Bassuet), benefiting from a rich diversity of soils and microclimates that foster the creation of outstanding wines.
Historic cellars
The historic cellars of Maison Joseph Perrier stretch over five kilometers and house four million bottles patiently aging on lees. Carved into ancient Gallo-Roman chalk quarries on the hillside, these cellars benefit from natural protection thanks to an arboretum on the surface, which plays a key role as a climate regulator by absorbing excess humidity. The chalky nature of the galleries helps maintain an ideal temperature, further enhanced by natural ventilation provided by 84 light wells.
Furthermore, the “Réflecteur,” an ingenious lighting system, is both a historical hallmark of the cellars and a key element that contributed to the creation of the first wire cages (muselets). Today, Joseph Perrier Champagne is expressed through ten cuvées, each aging in these emblematic cellars for at least three years, thus perpetuating a tradition of excellence and craftsmanship.
Cuvée Royale Brut captivates with its fruity aromas, suppleness and delicate floral notes, offering a refined introduction to a collection where finesse and precision fully shine. Cuvée Royale Brut Rosé then enchants with its perfect balance, combining indulgence and liveliness. In addition, the Blanc de Blancs stands out for its remarkable elegance and intensity.
An exceptional space dedicated to tasting
Inaugurated in September 2020 after two years of work, Maison Joseph Perrier’s wine tourism site offers an immersive experience at the heart of its history and heritage. The museum allows visitors to discover the House’s evolution through numerous archives, highlighting the richness of its legacy.
The tour of the historic cellars invites visitors to explore the know-how and artisanal DNA passed down by the men and women who have worked there for nearly two centuries. To extend this experience, tasting rooms (Le Cellier 1825, La Galerie 1825) offer optimal conditions to enjoy Joseph Perrier champagnes.
