    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Beaune 1er cru "Boucherottes" Héritiers Louis Jadot 2018

    Tasting

    Appearance
This wine reveals a deep, dense ruby hue, evolving towards subtle garnet reflections over time.

    Nose
Complex and intense, the bouquet releases aromas of very ripe red and black fruits (black cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry), enhanced by spicy notes of black pepper and liquorice, along with a delicate mineral and earthy touch.

    Palate
Broad and powerful, the palate seduces with its velvety texture and its assertive yet ripe tannic structure. The whole is perfectly balanced by a lovely freshness, extending into a finish of remarkable length.

    Food and wine pairings

This red wine pairs ideally with traditional Burgundian cuisine, such as beef bourguignon or coq au vin. It also wonderfully accompanies roasted red meats, characterful game, poultry such as duck, as well as aged cheeses like Époisses or Comté.

    Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate this wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 16 to 17°C, with light decanting in its youth. Endowed with a solid structure, it can be enjoyed today but will continue to improve in the cellar until around 2038.

The breadth and power of a Beaune Premier Cru

    The estate

Founded in 1859 in Beaune by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, the Louis Jadot House is a true institution in Burgundy. Now owned by the American Kopf family and chaired by Thomas Seiter, it shines internationally while preserving an identity deeply rooted in its terroir. Both a négociant house and the owner of a vast 130-hectare vineyard, it stands out for its strong environmental commitment and its determination to limit oenological interventions. Louis Jadot wines thus embody the diversity and richness of Burgundy's climats with great consistency.

    The vineyard

Located on the southern slope of Beaune, on the border with Pommard, the Boucherottes climat is a sloping vineyard. Its soils consist of deep marls covered with silt on the surface, providing a terroir conducive to the concentration of the grapes. Cultivated without any synthetic products for more than two decades, this Burgundian terroir benefits from the High Environmental Value level 3 certification and follows the principles of organic farming.

    The vintage

The 2018 year stands out as a warm, early and generous vintage. A particularly sunny summer allowed optimal phenolic maturity of the berries to be reached, offering abundant volumes while preserving the natural freshness essential to balance.

    Vinification and ageing

After careful destemming, the berries undergo a long maceration of about four weeks in open vats, accompanied by regular punching down and pumping over. Ageing then continues for eighteen months in oak barrels from the estate's own cooperage, providing an elegant structure without masking the fruit.
