    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Beaune 1er Cru "Boucherottes" Héritiers Louis Jadot 2022

    Tasting

    Appearance
This red wine reveals a deep ruby robe with violet reflections, boasting a beautiful brilliance and remarkable intensity.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with crisp, fresh notes of red and black fruits, such as black cherry, ripe raspberry and blackberry. With aeration, delicate floral hints of violet intertwine with nuances of sweet spices and a subtle woodiness evoking vanilla and clove.

    Palate
Ample and well-structured, the palate offers concentrated fruit-driven material supported by tannins that are present yet finely grained. The perfectly integrated acidity brings tension and freshness, leading to a persistent finish marked by black fruits and light toasted notes.

    Food and wine pairings

This wine pairs harmoniously with roasted poultry, such as guinea fowl or free-range chicken, as well as red meats like a beef sirloin steak. It also wonderfully accompanies mushroom-based dishes, such as a porcini risotto, or soft cheeses such as Brie or Saint-Nectaire.

    Service and cellaring

To fully appreciate this wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 16 and 17°C. Endowed with a fine structure, this wine can be enjoyed in its youth but also has an ageing potential allowing it to evolve in the cellar until around 2042.

The Elegance and Structure of a Beaune Premier Cru

    The estate

Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Louis Jadot is a historic institution located in Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy, France. Spanning a vineyard of 125 to 200 hectares, this family-owned estate is now led by Pierre-Henry Gagey. Renowned for its deep commitment to the authentic expression of terroirs, the house combines tradition and respect for the environment to offer a precise interpretation of the Burgundy climats.

    The vineyard

Located in the commune of Beaune, on the border with Pommard, the Premier Cru climat "Les Boucherottes" lies on a full slope. This terroir stands out for its soils composed of deep marls topped with surface silts. Committed to a strong environmental approach, the estate has been certified High Environmental Value (HVE 3) since 2019. The vines have been cultivated without synthetic products for around twenty years, with soil work carried out mechanically or by horse, with a view to organic certification.

    The vintage

The 2022 year offered favourable weather conditions in Burgundy, allowing optimal phenolic maturity to be reached without suffering from excessive heat or drought. This mild growing cycle gave rise to healthy grapes, combining beautiful concentration with preserved freshness.

    Winemaking and ageing

The winemaking process begins with the destemming of the berries. Fermentation then takes place in open vats for around four weeks, promoting a gentle and controlled extraction. The wine is finally barrelled for 18 months of ageing in oak casks within the estate's historic cellars.
