The richness and delicacy of a Burgundy grand cru crafted by Louis Jadot
The estate
Officially founded in 1859, Maison Louis Jadot is a true institution in Burgundy, based in Beaune. Although the family's winemaking history began as early as 1826, the estate now covers nearly 270 hectares. Currently led by Thomas Seiter, with the support of the Gagey and Kopf families, the property stands out for its commitment to letting each terroir express itself. Certified High Environmental Value Level 3 since 2019, the house is dedicated to sustainable viticulture in order to preserve the authenticity of its prestigious climats.
The vineyard
Chapelle-Chambertin is an illustrious grand cru located within the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation, in the Côte de Nuits. The vines flourish on the eastern part of the finage, benefiting from a lovely south-east exposure. They grow on clay-limestone soils that give the grapes optimal ripeness while preserving great freshness. The "Domaine" designation guarantees rigorous control of the growing practices directly by the house.
The vintage
The 2018 vintage in Burgundy was marked by warm and particularly dry weather conditions. This summer climate, characterised by high temperatures and generous sunshine, encouraged excellent phenolic ripeness of the berries, delivering rich grapes with perfectly ripe tannins at harvest.
Winemaking and aging
The making of Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru Dom. Louis Jadot 2018 relies on carefully controlled extraction to structure the wine while preserving the finesse of its texture. The wine then benefits from attentive aging in oak barrels, with a significant proportion of new wood, designed to integrate harmoniously without ever masking the brilliance of the fruit and the expression of the terroir.
