Nose
Expressive and delicate, the nose opens with rich aromas of red and black fruits such as cherry, raspberry and blackcurrant, complemented by subtle floral hints of violet. Upon aeration, nuances of undergrowth, earth and sweet spices blend with an elegant oakiness evoking noble oak and vanilla.

Palate
On the palate, the wine seduces with its silky texture and structure that is both rich and elegant. The tannins are fine and perfectly integrated. The balance is remarkable between the vibrancy of the fruit, the freshness of the acidity and the woody notes, extending into a long, complex and refined finish.

Food and wine pairings

This red wine pairs wonderfully with slow-cooked dishes in sauce such as bœuf bourguignon or braised veal. It also perfectly accompanies game and noble poultry, such as roast duck or venison fillet, as well as characterful mature cheeses like Époisses or Langres.

The estate

Founded in 1859 in Beaune, the Louis Jadot House is a true institution in Burgundy. Both a négociant house and an estate, it oversees a vast vineyard stretching from the Côte d'Or to the Mâconnais and Beaujolais. Owned by the American group Kobrand since 1985, it has retained its regional roots and its philosophy of respect for terroirs. Now led by Thomas Seiter, who succeeded the Gagey family, Louis Jadot stands out for its strong environmental commitment and its ability to shine worldwide while preserving the authenticity of its wines.

The vineyard

The Chapelle-Chambertin terroir is located in the northern part of the Côte de Nuits, in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin. The estate's vines flourish just below the Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze grands crus. They benefit from excellent south-easterly exposure, ensuring regular sunshine and good ventilation. The vines are planted on clay-limestone soils, combining the power of clay with the tension of limestone. The estate applies environmentally friendly practices, favouring soil work, the preservation of biodiversity and the reduction of phytosanitary treatments.

The vintage

The 2019 vintage in Burgundy was marked by generally warm climatic conditions, with high temperatures and several episodes of drought. Thanks to rigorous management of the canopy and soils, the vines were able to maintain their balance in the face of this heat. The harvest thus yielded healthy berries, showing optimal phenolic ripeness and preserved acidity.

Winemaking and ageing

After manual harvesting and meticulous sorting, the vinification of Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru Dom. Louis Jadot 2019 begins with fermentation in vats. Precise maceration allows the colour and tannins to be extracted with great delicacy. The wine is then aged for around 18 months in oak barrels, mainly from the forests of Allier or Tronçais. The proportion of new wood is carefully controlled to support the wine's structure without ever masking the identity of its terroir.
