The estate
Founded in 1859 in the heart of Burgundy, in Beaune, the Louis Jadot House is a true winegrowing institution. Historically rooted in the region thanks to a family heritage predating its official creation, it today combines the expertise of a great merchant house with that of a vast proprietary estate. Currently owned by the American Kopf family, the estate shines internationally while preserving a deeply Burgundian identity. Firmly committed to sustainable viticulture, the House stands out for its determination to faithfully convey the unique expression of each terroir.
The vineyard
Located on the western edge of the Côte de Beaune, the terroir of the Saint-Aubin appellation stands out for its rolling geography and its microclimates. The vines rest on a mosaic of soils divided into two main areas: one exposed to the south and south-east on chalky limestone soils that favour ripening, the other facing east on clay-gravel soils bringing greater freshness. The estate cultivates these plots according to the principles of sustainable viticulture, with a gradual transition to organic farming, in order to preserve biodiversity and adapt to climatic changes.
The vintage
The year 2022 was marked by generally warm weather in Burgundy. High temperatures encouraged advanced ripening and led to a relatively early harvest. However, thanks to the altitude of the plots and rigorous management of the harvest dates, the grapes were able to retain a beautiful natural freshness, thus avoiding any overripeness.
Winemaking and ageing
The making of this Saint-Aubin Village 2022 begins with alcoholic fermentation carried out directly in oak barrels. The wine then benefits from ageing in barrels for around twelve months before bottling. The use of oak remains deliberately measured, in order to structure the wine and refine its texture without ever masking the purity of the fruit and the typicity of the terroir.
