    Description

A Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé seducing with freshness and intensity

    The estate

As a Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé, the Château-Figeac embodies the excellence of great Bordeaux wines worldwide. Château-Figeac has been owned by the Manoncourt family for over 120 years. On September 8, 2022, Château-Figeac was elevated to the rank of Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé "A" in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru classification.

    The vineyard

An illustrious reference among the great wines of Saint-Émilion, Château-Figeac enjoys an exceptional location on the western edge of the appellation, bordering the Pomerol appellation. The estate’s vineyard is planted on three distinct gravel ridges. Respect for biodiversity, flora, and fauna is at the heart of the estate’s concerns.

    The wine

The first vintage as a Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé “A”, 2022 marks a new chapter in the estate’s history. On this occasion, the label bears a subtle nod to the family tradition through a handwritten word by Madame Manoncourt, in homage to the centenary vintage band signed by Thierry Manoncourt in 1993.

    The vintage

The 2022 vintage is characterized by drought and heat. Temperature peaks were reached as early as May, resulting in accelerated vine growth. The season experienced cool nights and some welcome rains between June and July. These helped avoid hydric stress. The combination of the estate’s agroecological approach and the teams’ know-how preserved, despite these extreme conditions, freshness in the soils and in the grapes.

    Vinification and aging

Infusion vinification, without sulfur. Fermentation at reduced temperatures, without punch-down. Rigorous selection of new barrels for malolactic fermentation and aging.

    Blend

    Cabernet sauvignon (40%)
    Cabernet franc (31%)
    Merlot (29%).
