Fragranced and lively aromatics – raspberry, blackcurrant leaf, blueberries and cola tones with a floral scent too. Supple and friendly, this has a generous amount of clean raspberry and strawberry fruit with lively acidity that doesn’t overwhelm the expression. Calm and persistent with a creamy texture that gives an appealing mouthfeel. Mouthwatering acidity. It tapers a little in density toward the finish but the flavour continues. Feels classic with a cool touch and restraint. Definitely not overdone here and this has great clarity. 40% of Grand Pontet going into the grand vin this year. 21% production. Ageing in 39% new oak. 3.41 pH – one of the lowest pHs. Usually 3.5–3.6 pH.

Blending 92.8% Merlot with 7.2% Merlot produced a soft, charming, early-drinking wine filled with strawberry and raspberry, perfect for enjoying over the next few years. Drink from 2027–2031. 89–91 pts

A superb purity of fruit on the nose, very elegant, lifted by a comforting floral fragrance. On the palate, a juicy intensity, full of grace, carried by a slender verticality. The finish is sumptuous, lingering on subtle mocha nuances.

The bouquet of Quintus reveals its élevage through notes of fresh wood complemented by red and black berry notes. The élevage is also evident on the palate. It matches the tannic structure, fine and perfectly integrated. A wine that can be enjoyed in its youth.

Tiny touch of reduction on the opening moments of this wine, then slowly uncurls, lovely rose petals, elderflower, raspbery and redcurrant, with a kiss of grilled sandalwood. You can really track the evolution of Quintus at this point, as it takes on more of the character of its location up on the limestone plateau, and this is a good quality wine. 35hl/h yield, 39% new oak. A beautiful deep dark red with purple highlights. An intense nose with pure, ripe fruit. A subtle ensemble with a slight vanilla note. Delicate on the attack and very flavoursome through the mid-palate, full of character, the wine slowly builds into a long, sappy finish, fruity and floral, with fine tannins. Very good. Blend: 77.2% Merlot, 22.8% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol: 13.1% – pH: 3.41. Yield: 34 hl/ha. Aged with 38% new oak.
