Tasting
Appearance
The wine reveals a pale to light gold hue, brightened by subtle emerald highlights and endowed with a crystalline brilliance.
Nose
The nose opens on an elegant minerality evoking chalk and flint, complemented by a complex floral and vegetal bouquet blending verbena, fern and hyacinth, along with hints of fresh bread.
Palate
On the palate, this wine stands out for its finesse, balance and silky texture. Beautifully ample without being opulent, it offers a remarkable concentration where the liveliness of the acidity contrasts with a smooth envelope, extending into a long persistence.
Food and wine pairings
This white Grand Cru pairs wonderfully with noble seafood such as scallops or grilled lobster, delicate fish such as turbot, as well as refined white meats or dishes featuring white truffle.
Serving and cellaring
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve the Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru "Les Demoiselles" 2024 at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. Decanting is not recommended in its youth. Endowed with remarkable cellaring potential, this wine will evolve favourably until around 2044.
The mineral expression and elegance of a Burgundy Grand Cru
The estate
Founded in 1859 in Beaune, Maison Louis Jadot is a true institution in Burgundy. Now led by Thomas Seiter, with Thibault Gagey as General Manager, the estate perpetuates outstanding expertise across a vast 213-hectare vineyard. Renowned for its deep respect for terroirs and its philosophy combining tradition and sustainable innovations, the house produces wines under different labels, including the Héritiers Louis Jadot estate. This prestigious négociant house stands out for its ability to maintain an exceptional and consistent quality, faithful to the identity of each Burgundian appellation.
The vineyard
Chevalier-Montrachet is a prestigious terroir located on the Mont-Rachet hill, south of the Côte de Beaune, rising between 265 and 290 metres in altitude. With a south-south-east exposure, the vines thrive on shallow soils that are highly calcareous, stony and rich in marl, forcing deep rooting. The historic "Les Demoiselles" parcel, acquired in 1913, benefits from meticulous management and strictly manual harvesting into small crates to preserve the integrity of the fruit.
The vintage
The 2024 year was marked by significant climatic challenges. After a mild winter that encouraged early budburst, frost episodes in April affected the buds. The irregular flowering in June, disrupted by rain and cold, led to coulure and reduced yields. While the hot and humid month of July favoured mildew pressure, the arrival of hot and dry weather in August helped to restore the health of the vines and ensure optimal ripening through to the harvest at the end of September.
Vinification and ageing
For the Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru "Les Demoiselles" 2024, the grapes undergo a gentle pressing. Traditional fermentation takes place in oak barrels, including a proportion of new wood and at least one-third coming from the house's own cooperage. The wine then benefits from an extended ageing of 15 to 18 months on fine lees, allowing the oak notes to be subtly integrated and its aromatic complexity to develop.
