    Decanter

This excellent wine perhaps has just slightly less tension and cut than last year, but it is a majestic, beautiful wine with ripe aromas of apple, Mirabelle plum, and quince. Although the fruit aromas are rich, there is still a satisfying freshness and mineral character that comes through on the palate; the oak (one-third new) is hardly felt at all. The grapes come from a half-hectare of domaine-owned vines in the northern extension of the appellation. This is a wine that will kick into high gear at 30 years of age.

    Tasting

    Appearance
The glass reveals a golden hue enhanced by delicate emerald reflections.

    Nose
Highly complex, the aromatic bouquet unveils notes of white fruits such as peach and pear, intertwined with floral touches. To these are added indulgent nuances of hazelnut, almond paste, honey and toasted bread, all supported by a distinctive minerality.

    Palate
Ample and powerful, the palate offers a rich and dense texture. It stands out for its vibrant minerality, which perfectly balances the wine's generosity. The remarkably long finish leaves a lasting impression marked by freshness and subtle spicy nuances.

    Food and wine pairings

This great white wine elevates fine seafood such as lobster, langoustine or scallops, particularly when accompanied by white truffle. It also pairs beautifully with firm-fleshed fish such as turbot, top-quality poultry served in a cream sauce, or a foie gras pâté.

    Serving and cellaring

Built to stand the test of time, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru "Les Demoiselles" Héritiers Louis Jadot 2023 will reveal its full potential after several years of cellaring and can be kept until around 2043.

The mineral expression of a Burgundy Grand Cru by Louis Jadot

    The estate

Founded in 1859, the Louis Jadot House is a true institution in Burgundy. Based in Beaune, it oversees a vast vineyard of nearly 245 hectares spread across prestigious terroirs. The estate stands out for its dual status as both négociant and grower. Now led by Thomas Seiter, it perpetuates a historic expertise while committing to sustainable practices and organic certification. Louis Jadot embodies excellence, offering wines that faithfully express the diversity of their appellations.

    The vineyard

The "Les Demoiselles" Climat is a tiny half-hectare plot located at the top of the slope of the Chevalier-Montrachet appellation, adjacent to the legendary Montrachet. Facing south and south-east, the vines benefit from ideal sun exposure and excellent drainage. The subsoil, highly limestone and stony, rests on marl and marly limestone dating from the Jurassic period. This distinctive geology, combined with a slightly higher altitude, gives the grapes exceptional minerality and freshness.

    The vintage

The 2023 year was marked by particularly warm and generous weather conditions. Following a cool spring, summer brought abundant sunshine and low rainfall, promoting optimal ripening and a strong concentration of sugars in the grapes. Despite the heat, the altitude and the limestone nature of the terroir helped preserve a fine acidity throughout the growing cycle.

    Winemaking and aging

The vinification of Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru "Les Demoiselles" Héritiers Louis Jadot 2023 is carried out with meticulous care to preserve the pure expression of its terroir. The wine undergoes fermentation and aging in oak barrels for 15 to 18 months, allowing the oaky notes to be subtly integrated while preserving the mineral backbone characteristic of the cuvée.

    Grape variety

    100% Chardonnay.
