Tasting Notes and Serving Tips for the 4 éléments Chardonnay Extra Brut 2019 from Champagne Huré Frères
Tasting
Appearance
The colour reveals a pale straw yellow hue, clear and bright, animated by fine, persistent bubbles.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens on citrus notes, such as lemon zest and grapefruit, mingled with scents of white flowers and white peach. With aeration, a more indulgent dimension emerges, with touches of salted butter and golden brioche, all underpinned by a deep, chalky minerality.
Palate
The tasting offers a vibrant, precise and taut attack. The palate is structured by a highly dynamic mineral and chalky core, accompanied by refreshing citric acidity and delicate yeasty notes. The whole stretches out with elegance towards a remarkably long finish.
Serving and cellaring
Blessed with excellent ageing potential, this 4 éléments Chardonnay Extra Brut 2019 can be cellared to evolve favourably until around 2036.
The Distinctive Expression of a Montagne de Reims Terroir by Champagne Huré Frères
The estate
The story of Champagne Huré Frères is rooted in Ludes. Although the family adventure began in the 1960s, the House was officially founded in 1971 by three brothers. Today, the estate is run by François Huré, owner and cellar master, supported by his brother Pierre. Spanning around ten hectares, this independent estate stands out for its transition to organic farming and its commitment to faithfully expressing the identity of the terroirs on the north-facing side of the Montagne de Reims through highly precise single-parcel cuvées.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes exclusively from the Les Blanches Voies lieu-dit, a Premier Cru-classified plot located in the commune of Rilly-la-Montagne, in Champagne. This distinctive terroir enjoys a full south-facing exposure, ideal for grape ripening. Here, the vines draw their character from a highly chalky soil, where the deep chalk gives the white wine its tension and intense minerality.
Winemaking and ageing
The making of the 4 éléments Chardonnay Extra Brut 2019 relies on precise technical choices. Spontaneous fermentation and ageing both take place entirely in wood, in 600-litre demi-muids. To preserve all the natural freshness and tension of the grape, malolactic fermentation is not carried out. Finally, the second fermentation takes place under a natural cork stopper, promoting an exceptionally fine effervescence.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
