    La RVF

A pale yellow color; the nose is clean, with a lively, mineral Chardonnay—more on the crystalline side. The palate follows suit, with a precise, no-frills structure. The juice has less depth than last year’s release.

    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Blanc de Blancs Extra-Brut Premier Cru by Veuve Fourny & Fils

    Tasting

    Nose

The aromatic bouquet proves complex yet approachable, revealing notes of white fruits such as peach and summer apple, intertwined with citrus scents. Delicate hints of white flowers, toasted almond, hazelnut and brioche further enrich the whole, underpinned by a beautiful minerality.

    Palate

On the palate, this wine offers a perfect balance between a creamy texture and a refreshing vivacity. The attack is precise, broad and airy, without any harshness. The tasting extends into a remarkably long finish, marked by a crystalline purity and a distinctly saline signature.

    Food and Wine Pairings

This cuvée excels when served as an aperitif. It also pairs wonderfully with Japanese specialities such as sushi and sashimi, as well as delicate seafood dishes like oysters, shellfish or a white fish carpaccio.

    Serving and Cellaring

The non-vintage Blanc de Blancs Extra-Brut Premier Cru is a wine that delivers immediate pleasure, while also possessing fine ageing potential. It can be cellared and enjoyed until around the end of the decade, allowing it to develop further complexity.

The Elegance of a Blanc de Blancs by Veuve Fourny & Fils

    The Estate

The Fourny family's winemaking history began in 1856 in Vertus, at the heart of the Côte des Blancs. However, it was in the 1950s that the House of Veuve Fourny & Fils officially came into being. Today, the estate is run by brothers Charles-Henry and Emmanuel Fourny, representing the fifth generation. This artisanal estate of around ten hectares stands out for its strong environmental commitment, certified Haute Valeur Environnementale level 3, and for its dedication to showcasing the pure expression of its chalky terroir.

    The Vineyard

The vines destined for this Champagne cuvée flourish on the terroirs of Vertus and other Premier Cru-classified villages. Around forty years old, they draw their resources from thin brown soils known as rendzinas, resting directly on an outcropping chalk subsoil. The estate practises viticulture that is highly respectful of the environment, promoting biodiversity and relying solely on organic fertilisation.

    The Blend

This Extra-Brut cuvée is the result of a meticulous blend bringing together three consecutive vintages. To lend additional depth and aromatic patina, the composition also includes 20% reserve wines.

    Winemaking and Ageing

The grapes are hand-harvested, and only the juice from the first pressing is retained to craft the non-vintage Blanc de Blancs Extra-Brut Premier Cru. Vinification takes place 75% in tanks and 25% in oak barrels. The base wines benefit from seven months of ageing on fine lees. After bottling, the second fermentation and lees ageing continue for several years within the estate's historic cellars, at a low and constant temperature.

    Grape Variety

    100% Chardonnay.
