The Authenticity of a Great Morgon Wine
The estate
Officially founded in 1909 by Michel Lapierre in Villié-Morgon, France, Domaine M. Lapierre is a true historic benchmark of Beaujolais. With a vineyard of approximately 18 hectares, the estate took a decisive turn in the 1980s to become a pioneer of natural wines. Today, Mathieu and Camille Lapierre run the family estate. They passionately carry on this philosophy of respect for all living things, crafting authentic wines that express the full purity of their terroirs.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes from a meticulous selection of very old, century-old vines. These historic vines are rooted in poor soils composed of acidic granitic sands, located in the prestigious terroirs of Douby and the famous Côte du Py, in the heart of the Morgon appellation. All of these plots are farmed with rigour using certified organic practices, with the utmost respect for the environment.
Vinification and maturation
The grapes are harvested by hand, followed by a rigorous sorting of the bunches. In the cellar, vinification takes place without any oenological additives or artificial yeasts, favouring a traditional semi-carbonic maceration. The wine is then carefully aged in used 228-litre Burgundy oak barrels for nine to twelve months, before being bottled without filtration.
Grape variety
Gamay (100%).
