Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Morgon 2025 from M. Lapierre
Tasting
Appearance
This red wine displays a brilliant, deep garnet hue.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with intense notes of red fruit such as cherry and raspberry, mingled with delicate floral touches of violet. Subtle nuances of liquorice, peppermint and camphor add further complexity.
Palate
The attack is straightforward, paving the way for a fleshy, mouthwatering texture. The balance is remarkable, underpinned by a lovely invigorating acidity and round, crunchy tannins. The finish is long, elegant and particularly mouthwatering.
Food and Wine Pairing
This cuvée will pair wonderfully with terrines, fine charcuterie or grilled red meats such as a leg of lamb. It will also enhance more refined dishes such as free-range poultry with mushrooms or a beef fillet, as well as soft-rind cheeses.
Serving and Cellaring
To fully enjoy this Morgon 2025, we recommend serving it at a temperature between 13 and 15°C, with a light decanting while it is young. This wine has the structure needed to age favourably in the cellar until around 2035.
The Authenticity and Depth of a Great Beaujolais Wine
The Estate
Founded in 1909 by Michel Lapierre, the estate now extends over 18 hectares in the heart of Beaujolais. It was under the leadership of Marcel Lapierre, from the 1980s onwards, that the property became a true benchmark thanks to an approach that respects all living things. Today, Camille and Mathieu Lapierre carry on this family legacy with passion. They run the estate following the principles of certified organic farming. The cuvées produced by M. Lapierre stand out for their purity, authentically and precisely reflecting the full richness of their native terroir.
The Vineyard
The grapes come from vines aged 60 to 70 years, rooted in the renowned terroirs of the Morgon appellation. The vineyard rests on poor, acidic soils made up of granitic sand. This decomposed granite forces the vine to root deeply, favouring moderate yields and slow ripening, ideal for expressing all the finesse of the cru.
Vinification and Ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand to preserve the integrity of the bunches. The Morgon 2025 is vinified using traditional semi-carbonic maceration in truncated conical wooden vats for 10 to 21 days, using only indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for approximately nine months in seasoned 216-litre Burgundy barrels, refining the structure without marking the aromatic profile.
