The NV Extra Brut Mémoire is based on a solera that includes vintages from 1982 to 2012 (2012 accounts for 10%). This fizz opens with clear, ripe fruit along with some earthy/vegetal nuances on the nose. It is fresh, light and elegant on the palate, revealing remarkable finesse and lightness. It also has intensity, length and a firm structure. A truly expressive memory.

Spice and graphite notes lace this firm, chalky Champagne, but the acidity is juicy on the palate, enlivening the flavors of ripe apple, brioche, lemon curd and fresh ginger. Zesty finish. Disgorged February 2014. Drink now through 2020. 36 cases imported.

The NV Extra Brut Mémoire, a blend of half Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier and 10% Chardonnay, comes from a perpetual reserve started in 1982 and is kept in a large oak foudre. Exquisitely pure and juicy Red Delicious apple flesh sinks into smooth sourdough notions on the nose of this golden wine. The palate vibrates with freshness despite the salty mellow apple richness and deepens its autolytic notions into buttered rye bread. This taut Champagne definitely benefits from its low dosage and deep saline savoriness. An utterly gastronomic Champagne with a delicious mouth-watering phenolic edge. Beautifully long and so resonant. Dosage is 2 grams per liter. (Lot MLM02007/24) - Anne Krebiehl MW

A beautiful definition with the contribution of reserve wines that brings all the complexity and poise to the wines. Pastry-like, marzipan, finely buttery, complex, lovely autolysis; the whole is graceful without excessive vinosity, with a lovely energy on the finish.

The NV Champagne Mémoire Extra Brut, produced from 1982 to 2021, has a medium yellow straw color. The 2021 is 10% of the blend, aged in a 5000-liter cask. This is a medium to full-bodied wine, filling the senses and giving the impression of volume. It maintains the lasting focus that the house carries, with notes of toasty bread, iodine, and orange peel, evoking a full-bodied sensation. However, it is tailored, with great freshness and a rounded and pillowing mousse. Drink 2025-2050.

A blend from many parcels of the producer's vineyards, this bone-dry wine is crisp and almost tart. Green apple flavors dominate the palate, accented by tight acidity and intense minerality. Like many really dry Champagnes, it needs to be aged and will be best from 2018.

    Description

An expressive Montagne de Reims Champagne with remarkable breadth

    The estate

Founded in 1960 by Georges Huré, the estate became known as Huré Frères in 1971 when it was passed down to his three sons. Today, François and Pierre Huré run this family property of 11 hectares in the Montagne de Reims. The estate stands out for its transition towards organic farming, its terroir-focused approach with cuvées reflecting each village, and the blend of family traditions with modern techniques.

    The vineyard

The Mémoire Extra Brut cuvée is crafted from grapes sourced from three distinct terroirs in the Montagne de Reims: Ludes (on clay and sand soils), Rilly-la-Montagne (on chalk), and Ville-Dommange (on sand). This geological diversity, located on the north face of the Montagne de Reims, brings complexity and character to the final blend.

This cuvée is based on a perpetual blend started in 1982, incorporating reserve wines extending up to 2020. This solera method allows for a unique expression of the history and spirit of the Champagne vineyard, offering a broad and long-term vision of the estate over the decades.

    Winemaking and aging

Aging is extended in 4,500-liter oak foudres. After two years of aging on the lees, this Champagne harmoniously develops its texture and exceptional aromatic complexity.

    Blend

Mémoire Extra Brut by Huré Frères is the result of a blend consisting of 50% Pinot Noir, 40% Meunier, and 10% Chardonnay.
