    Wine Spectator

    James Molesworth

A smoldering tobacco leaf edge runs from start to finish, lending a nice foil to the core of mulled plum and blackberry fruit. Shows a flash of pepper on the finish. Drink now through 2014. 15,000 cases made, 2,500 cases imported.

    James Suckling

Soft and drinkable now with plums and berries. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a delicious finish.

    Andreas Larsson

    Andreas Larsson

The nose feels traditional with red-fruited notes and an herbal spiciness; the palate is fairly soft, medium in weight, with sweet fruit, redcurrant, spices, herbs, and rather good length.

    René Gabriel

Dark garnet, fairly dense at the core, ruby rim. Red plum bouquet, cherry skins. Rather light-bodied yet quite elegant, with sinewy muscle toward the finish.

    André Kunz

Hollow, herbal bouquet with red berries and wood. Slim, dry palate with light fruit, mealy tannins, and sweet aromatics. Short finish. 16/20 2015 - 2023

    Bettane+Desseauve

Amplitude and density for this silky wine on the palate, punctuated by fine tannins.

    Le Figaro Vin

Supple, lovely fruit for a well-crafted wine. Unbeatable value for money.

    Jean-Marc Quarin

    Jean-Marc Quarin

Dark, intense, purple color. Fruity, fresh and ripe nose, moderately aromatic. Lovely, fleshy entry on the palate. The wine develops with aromatic flavor, body, and fairly fine tannins. Good length, well supported by oak and aromas. Nice structure. 2009 is the greatest vintage of this estate.

    Description

The elegance and intensity of a Haut-Médoc red wine

    The estate

Located in the Haut-Médoc appellation, at the gateway to Pauillac, Château Peyrabon is nestled in a lush green setting. Owned by Patrick Bernard since 1998, Château Peyrabon has undergone significant restructuring and modernization, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Classified as a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, Château Peyrabon is a very fine reference in Haut-Médoc. It offers wines that are representative of the appellation, elegant and powerful, with superb aging potential.

    The vineyard

This Château Peyrabon 2009 is a Haut-Médoc wine from a 49-hectare vineyard. Averaging 21 years of age, the vines are planted on sandy gravel resting on a clay subsoil. Clay-limestone soils are found on 5 hectares of the vineyard. The vineyard holds ISO14001-2015 and HVE (High Environmental Value) certification, with phytosanitary protection carried out using sustainable pest management.

    Winemaking and aging

The grapes are transferred by vibrating hopper, before destemming and sorting on tables. Plot-by-plot vinification takes place in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats. Following fermentation between 25 and 26°C, gentle extraction is carried out by pumping over and punching down. The maceration period varies between 19 and 24 days. This is followed by vertical pressing, with separation of the press wines into barrels, then selection based on tasting. Malolactic fermentation precedes traditional aging for 14 months in barrels (20% new wood).

    Blend

    Cabernet Sauvignon (71.5%)
    Merlot (25%)
    Petit Verdot (3.5%)
