    Roger Voss

92–94. Barrel Sample. Dark tannins and layers of black-plum flavors give this wine weight and richness. The structure is there, showing a dry edge alongside spice and a juicy aftertaste.

Light crimson. Attractively toasty nose but without much concentration. Sweet, light, but not very ambitious. (JR)

    Andreas Larsson

Medium deep ruby red colour. Floral nose with sweet plum, red currant and cassis notes. Dense and medium bodied with a young texture, yet ripe tannin, fresh dark fruit flavours, tobacco, fine oak and a long finish.

2015 retains lovely elegance, with intensity. It needs to come together and settle in.

    Description

The refinement and aromatic richness of a Haut-Médoc red wine

    The estate

Located in the Haut-Médoc appellation, on the doorstep of Pauillac, Château Peyrabon is nestled in a lush green setting. Owned by Patrick Bernard since 1998, Château Peyrabon has undergone significant restructuring and modernization, both in the vineyard and the winery. Château Peyrabon is a very fine reference in Haut-Médoc, producing elegant and powerful wines with superb aging potential.

    The vineyard

In the commune of Saint-Sauveur Médoc, the vineyard producing this Haut-Médoc wine spreads over approximately 37 hectares of vines averaging 20 years of age, planted on sandy gravel resting on a clay subsoil. Clay-limestone soils are found on 5 hectares of the vineyard.

    Winemaking and aging

The grapes are transferred via vibrating hoppers and undergo destemming and optical sorting. Plot-by-plot vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats, accompanied by adapted pump-overs and rack-and-return to favor gentle extraction. Maceration lasts 19 to 24 days. The press wines are separated and then selected after tasting. Aging lasts 14 months in barrels (25% new wood), followed by fining in vats.

    Blend

    Cabernet Sauvignon (60%)
    Merlot (30%)
    Cabernet Franc (6.5%)
    Petit Verdot (3.5%).
