The liveliness and precision of a Loire white wine
The estate
Since 1513, the Joseph Mellot family estate has established itself as an essential reference for Loire wines. Renowned well beyond French borders, Joseph Mellot wines, crafted with integrity and respect for the environment, authentically reflect the richness and diversity of Sancerre terroirs.
Following the death of her husband, Catherine Corbeau-Mellot has been ensuring the preservation of the estate's quality and tradition since 2005. Joseph Mellot stands out as the only estate with parcels in each of the Centre-Loire appellations, a uniqueness that is its strength and is expressed through a vineyard of nearly 105 hectares.
Resulting from a meticulous selection of the best terroirs and careful vinification, Joseph Mellot estate wines are appreciated for their elegance, precision, and the unique typicity of each cru.
The vineyard
The grapes used for this Loire wine come from the "Les Caillottes" plot, with an area of 2.4 hectares, where the average age of the vines is 35 years.
The wine
This Sancerre by Joseph Mellot embodies the excellence of the estate. The "Les Châtelaines" cuvée pays tribute to the women who lived in the château.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes, mechanically harvested, are directly pressed. The fermentation of this white Sancerre wine takes place in fine-grained oak barrels, followed by 11 months of aging in barrels with regular stirring, then 10 months of refinement in vats.
Grape variety
100% Sauvignon Blanc.
